Bahá’í International Development Organization
The Bahá’í International Development Organization is an institution dedicated to facilitating a global process of learning about development efforts being advanced by Bahá’í communities around the world. It was established in 2018 by the Universal House of Justice—the governing body of the international Bahá’í community—at the spiritual and administrative centre of the Bahá’í Faith in Haifa, Israel, as the successor to the Office of Social and Economic Development that came before it. Overseen by a board of directors whose members are appointed by the Universal House of Justice for terms of five years, it reinforces the efforts of Bahá’í individuals, communities, and institutions worldwide in the area of development by fostering and supporting action, reflection on action, study, consultation, the gathering and systematization of experience, conceptualization, and training—all carried out in the light of the principles of the Faith.
